Y.T. Soultype is the fiction identity of Yenni Tyen.

Born in the United States and raised in Taiwan, she previously worked as a journalist, news anchor, and host of arts and culture programs. Her fiction begins in Taiwan and looks outward, tracing the cultural and power relations between Asia and the wider world, while examining how people are shaped by systems and reality in the face of love, desire, hesitation, and choice.

Her subjects range from cyber scam compounds and the U.S.–China chip war to Taiwan’s geopolitical position, marriage systems, religious lineages, and taboo teacher-disciple relationships. These are not simply romance stories, but explorations of what love becomes when people are bound by institutions, power, and the structures around them.
